Montessori Of Loyola - School History

Montessori of Loyola is under the supervision of Stella T. Cadiz, a US-educated and certified Montessori teacher, who completed her training under the Montessori Teacher Preparation (MTP) of Washington. In June 2011, she was invited to the US by the MTP of Washington to undertake training to become a trainer of future Montessori teachers. She was awarded an Assistant Teacher trainer’s certification in October 2012.

Teacher Stella also has a Master of Family Life & Child Development, a masteral degree program focusing on pre-school education, from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, where she was a consistent University Scholar and graduated with a near perfect grade point average of 1.008.

Before she became a Montessori teacher,  Teacher Stella was a finance writer for international and Asian publications and had garnered several writing awards. She graduated with distinction (honours) from Northwestern University, one of the top universities in the US,  after being awarded a Fulbright scholarship. She is also a member of the Kappa Tau Alpha, a US National Honor Society in Journalism and Mass Communication that recognizes the top journalism graduates in the US.

Earlier, she graduated with a B.A. in Communications cum laude from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. Teacher Stella also has a certificate in Applied Business Economics from the University of Asia and Pacific, which awarded her a full scholarship to study at their masteral degree program.

Montessori of Loyola Katipunan, formerly known as Casa Montessori of Loyola Heights, was founded more than 20 years ago by Jovita T. Cadiz, an experienced educator who taught students who have gone on to the big elementary schools. The valedictorian of Ateneo de Manila High School in March 2010, as well as many successful professionals and workers,  studied in this pre-school.

Mrs. Cadiz, an institution in the Loyola Heights community and the wife of the late Eduardo Cadiz, former assistant headmaster of Ateneo de Manila High School and Grade School, passed away in December 2011. We will always honor her memory and her contribution in starting the preschool and in helping build its reputation as a place for solid preschool education. Several of her students are now parents, with children studying at Montessori of Loyola.
