Montessori of Loyola is a small Montessori pre-school that is committed to providing the best possible environment for learning for young children. Each aspect of the school has been carefully planned and designed to achieve a standard of excellence. The school is distinguished by the following:
Excellent classroom facilities that are calm, beautiful and spacious. The air-conditioned classrooms have been designed to conform to U.S. standards on ideal space-child ratios, have attractive child-size furniture and are accompanied by specially-built, child-sized bathrooms to conform to the Montessori ideal of a school built for the child.
The school has traditional playground equipment, a sandbox, a garden and a koi fishpond, to nurture a connection with living things emphasized in the Montessori approach.
A complete range of beautiful, stimulating and authentic Montessori materials that covers all the main areas of learning. One of the strongest indicators of an exemplary Montessori school is a rich variety of concrete materials that is available to children on a daily basis.
At Montessori of Loyola, the range of materials is comprehensive and difficult to match in terms of breadth and depth, even by other Montessori schools. Core materials, as well as beautiful school-developed materials, can be found in the Practical Life, Sensorial, Language Arts, Math, Geography, History and Biology sections.
Highly-trained, knowledgeable, and caring teachers who engage children in satisfying learning activities in an intimate setting. Detailed parent testimonials indicate the effectiveness of the teachers in promoting the cognitive, emotional and social growth of children. The school has a low student-teacher ratio to ensure that each child’s progress is carefully observed, promoted and nurtured.
Key members of the teaching staff have trained under the Montessori Teacher Preparation of Washington, under the umbrella of the Montessori Teacher Preparation of America, and have been awarded Teaching Certificates in the Montessori Method of Preschool Education.
An individualized and well-designed curriculum that supports the child’s effective acquisition of social and academic skills in a manner that is stimulating, multi-sensorial, and respectful of his or her interests and abilities.
The school also provides complimentary enrichment programs such as art, music and movement, children’s literature, child and faith stories, as well as a transition program to prepare students for the elementary school.
A highly regarded home-school partnership system where parents cite their appreciation for the depth and clarity of the parenting orientation seminar on Montessori education, as well as the weekly parent’s update, the qualitative assessment reports every semester, and the individual narratives to help them track their child’s progress.
